Activate Ecotourism Infrastructure grant
Here's a pilot grant program for tourism infrastructure after a horrible two years for this industry.
Funding of up to $2m matched will be available for infrastructure projects by established tourism operations in Qld; businesses or not-for-profits. Projects must be commenced within six months of the funding announcement and completed by June 2024.
Expressions of interest are due 19th July and may result in an August invitation to submit a Full Business Case in September, 2022.
Act Eco will be delivered by the Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport (DTIS) and will provide financial support to projects that develop ecotourism and nature-based tourism infrastructure.
To be eligible, the project must:
- be situated on land adjacent to or near public protected areas, world heritage areas, timber reserves or state forests
- be situated on freehold or leasehold land and have owner’s consent to develop and operate ecotourism infrastructure
- have relevant zoning that allows ecotourism infrastructure
- already have in-principle support where required from local government and Traditional Owners
- be substantially progressed towards gaining, or have gained, all relevant local, state and Australian Government environmental approvals, including resolution of environmental offsets, if applicable.
- be substantially advanced towards gaining, or have gained Development Approval
- be substantially advanced towards Detailed Design for new ecotourism infrastructure.
